Max completed a PhD in the Computational Media Arts and Cultures program in 2021. Their dissertation work investigates themes of maintenance and crisis in U.S. art & visual culture in the Cold War period. Max is interested broadly in issues around climate crisis and technology, from electronic waste and energy consumption to climate engineering and whatever we’re calling the “Anthropocene” these days. Max’s background is in visual arts, art theory, U.S. history and media studies. They hold an MA in Historical Studies from the New School, and speak fluent internet. Max is currently a UX Researcher at AnswerLab in California.
